Weather: Muggy today with interior showers

Advertiser Staff

A high pressure area north of the state will weaken over the next couple of days, causing trade winds to decline and allowing a land and sea breeze pattern to dominate throughout the weekend and into the start of the new week, the National Weather Service said.

During this time, modest shower activity will be concentrated across mauka areas and interior sections each afternoon, forecasters said.

A weak front is expected to bring showers to Kaua'i and O'ahu Monday night before stalling near Maui on Tuesday.

Moderate trade winds will return by midweek as the front dissipates over the islands.
