Man critical after Waikiki moped accident

A man on a moped was critically injured this morning in a traffic accident in Waikiki, police dispatchers and EMS personnel said.

The accident occurred on Ala Wai Boulevard near McCully Street at 11:41 a.m.

The 43-year-man on the moped struck a Chrysler convertible driven by a 24-year-old man, police said.

No one in the car was injured.

The driver of the moped was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

It was unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were involved.
