2 copper theft suspects arrested in Kalihi

Two suspected copper thieves arrested in Kalihi by police have been released pending further investigation.

Kalihi Crime Reduction Unit officers captured a 27-year-old Kalihi Kai man Friday at 9 p.m. near Pu'uhale Road after responding to a report of a man stealig copper gutters from a office building.

A 53-year-old man was arrested for theft of copper and criminal trespass after a woman witness, 46, called police after seeing the suspect clim over a wall into a neighbor's business to steal air conditioning condenser coils containing copper. A male witness, 37, followed the suspect and directed police to his location.
