Kauai seniors' workshop starts Wednesday

The first of six "Ke Ala Pono: Healthy Living" workshops on Kaua'i for seniors 60 years and older suffering with chronic health problems will be held Wednesday at the Lihu'e Civic Center, Pi'ikoi building.

The series is being offered by the county's Agency on Elderly Affairs and the state Department of Health. It will be held on six consecutive Wednesdays from 9-11:30 a.m. Registration is limited to 16 participants and their caregivers.

Participants will be introduced to practical skills for healthy living while managing their ongoing health condition. Topics to be covered include communicating effectively, tips for eating well, relaxation, exercise, developing action plans, problem solving, and managing symptoms or problems such as fatigue, pain, and isolation.
