Sedaka to play Blaisdell; ticket sales Friday

Tickets go on sale this Friday for Neil Sedaka's Dec. 11 concert at Blaisdell Concert Hall — his first time at the municipal facility.

Sedaka, a prolific singer, composer and pianist, will perform at 7:30 p.m. — his first gig at the Blaisdell. In previous visits, he sang at the Hawai'i Theatre and the Kahala Hilton/Kahala Resort.

Early in his career, he also played at the Civic Auditorium in the late 1950s.

Sedaka is known for a string of hits like "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "The Diary," "Oh! Carol," "Calendar Girl," "Solitaire,""Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen," and "Laughter in the Rain."
