Ex-CIA executive who got free trip to Hawaii pleads guilty to fraud

Associated Press

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A former CIA executive director who admitted accepting free trips to Scotland and Hawai'i from a defense contractor has pleaded guilty to wire fraud.

Kyle "Dusty" Foggo was the No. 3 man in the CIA from 2004 to 2006.

He pleaded guilty in a Virginia federal court to one count of wire fraud, admitting he helped his best friend obtain contracts with the CIA at inflated prices.

As part of a plea bargain, prosecutors agreed to drop 27 other counts.

Foggo was not charged with taking bribes, but prosecutors said he received up to $70,000 worth of gifts from defense contractor Brent Wilkes. The gifts included free vacations to Scotland and Hawai'i.

Foggo faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, but prosecutors agreed that they will seek no more than three years.
