Weather: A few clouds this morning, sunny later

A weakening cold front will continue to move down the island chain producing windward cloud cover this morning, resulting in light showers primarily in windward and mauka areas, the National Weather Service said.

Clouds and showers will linger across windward areas of the Big Island this afternoon, but will clear the rest of the state as a dry, northeasterly air flow develops, forecasters said.

Moderate trade winds and a typical pattern of windward and mauka showers will return for the remainder of the week as a high pressure area builds north of the state.

Here's a closer look at what to expect for the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind between 11 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. Northeast wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
