A 19-year-old Makiki was re-indicted today on multiple felony charges related to a July freeway shooting in Moanalua that left another teenager paralyzed from the chest down.

Today's seven count indictment charges Joshua Gonda with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, and four firearm-related offenses, one more than on the previous Sept. 11. Gonda's bail remains at $500,000.

The indictment also stated that if convicted, prosecutors will seek extended term sentencing for Gonda due to the multiple felony offenses.

According to a police affidavit filed earlier this month at District Court, Gonda and three others were in a Honda Civic from which six shots were fired at a yellow Mitsubishi Lancer in the west-bound lane of Moanalua Freeway near the Tripler hospital exit on July 9.

One of the bullets is lodged in the spine of 16-year-old Roger Curioso, a front-seat passenger in the Mitsubishi. Curioso is hospitalized in Sacramento, Calif. The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 22-year-old man, was unhurt but had a bullet hole through his hat.

The document said the two people in the Mitsubishi were "hanging out" in the Iwilei Costco parking lot and attracted the attention of another group, who identified the car as belonging to a member of a rival gang. After the Mitsubishi left the parking lot, the second group went looking for the Mitsubishi in three vehicles, a witness told police.

The Mitsubishi was spotted coming out of Kalihi Valley, and the men in the Honda followed it. They pulled alongside, and shots were fired about 1:30 a.m. The witness told police Gonda was seated in the rear passenger seat and "pointed a revolver-type firearm out of the passenger's window and ... fired all six shots at the yellow Lancer," according to the document.
