KAHULUI
Rotarians help beautify Maui elder care facility

Kahului Rotary Club members worked with Hale Makua residents over the weekend to beautify the courtyards at the long-term-care facility.

Together they planted more than 100 planter boxes with flowers, foliage and herbs and installed a drip irrigation system for the planters.

The project received a $10,000 grant from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, and is one of the many made possible through Hale Makua's Luana Campaign to create a more homelike environment.

Hale Makua's resident elders are expected to create a garden club to care for the plants.
