Advertiser Staff

Authorities have charged a 34-year-old man with attempted second-degree murder in connection with Friday's shooting of a man on Kaumuali'i Street in Kalihi.

Jeffrey Miguel Tolentino was also charged with two firearm offenses. He was being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.

According to a police affidavit filed at court, Tolentino was identified by witnesses as the driver of a Nissan pickup truck who twice drove by a home in the 1700 block of Kaumuali'i St. and allegedly asked a group standing in the driveway "if they had any problems with him" and challenged them to a fight. Following the second pass, Tolentino stopped the truck, got out and allegedly fired three shots at the group from about 50 yards away.

A 27-year-old man suffered a wound to his right shin.
