Hawaii weather: Mostly sunny but still breezy

Advertiser Staff

A strong area of high pressure to the northeast of the state will keep trade winds breezy through today, the National Weather Service said.

The trades will decrease a bit tonight and tomorrow as the high weakens, forecasters said.

Low clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas, but will spread leeward at times as well due to strong winds and slight air-mass instability.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today — Mostly sunny. Isolated showers in the morning, then scattered showers in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs 75 to 81. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Tonight — Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 63 to 73. East winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
