Hertz Global Holdings Inc. will operate the Advantage Rent A Car location in Honolulu and Maui as part of its about $33 million purchase of certain Advantage assets in a bankruptcy proceeding.

Hertz said it is buying the Advantage brand name, Web site, and telephone numbers along with airport concessions at about 20 locations. Hertz said the acquisition, to close April 8, strengthens its position in the leisure car rental market.

Advantage filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 8.
