Pearlridge Center said it is adding five new tenants over the next few months, including the first stand-alone Hawai'i store for Japanese retailer BOOKOFF, a seller of used books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and video games.

The first two new tenants — Taco Del Mar and Tolga Jewelry — are slated to open in the middle of this month. Taco Del Mar will occupy the former Jewelry Direct space, while Tolga is opening a cart.

BOOKOFF is slated to open at the end of May in the former Fortuna space. The store, with more than 50,000 titles priced as low as $1 and will also buy and trade gently used materials, is part of a U.S. expansion for the retailer, which has about 900 stores in Japan. The company has had a presence for more than a decade inside the Shirokiya store at Ala Moana Center.

Opening in June will be the French-European bakery Pastry House in the space formerly occupied by Sunglass Hut, and men's and women's fashion retailer Kazu Couture in the space formerly occupied by Sprint/Nextel.

Pearlridge also said two existing tenants, Jeans Warehouse and Razor Sports, are expanding with larger stores later this month and next month, respectively.
