Puna man charged in drug trafficking

A 36-year-old Puna man has been charged with 10 drug offenses, including meth trafficking, Hawai'i County police said.

Jason Kaleo Ledward of Kea'au was arrested Tuesday. He was released after posting $61,250 bail.

Police recovered about 4.5 ounces (172.5 grams) of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $16,000.



AIR NATIONAL GUARD GENERAL STEPS DOWN

Brig. Gen. Kathleen Berg, the first female general of the Hawai'i Air National Guard, was honored yesterday at a ceremony to mark her retirement.

Berg was named to head the Air National Guard in August 2005 after serving as its assistant adjutant general and acting chief of staff.

Berg is also associate director of the Curriculum Research & Development Group in the University of Hawai'i's College of Education.
