UH's Jayson Kramer is WAC Pitcher of the Week

Hawai'i' senior Jayson Kramer was named Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced this morning.

Kramer pitched eight shutout innings on six hits to beat San Jose State, 3-0, Friday at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Rainbows won the WAC series, 3-1, and jumped into the national rankings for the first time this season by Baseball America.

Kramer, a graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute, is 2-3 with a 3.00 earned run average on the season. He is the second Rainbow to win the weekly award this season. Relief pitcher Sam Spangler also earned the honor.

Nevada catcher Travis Simas was named the WAC Hitter of the Week.

The Rainbows (19-10 overall, 3-1 WAC) leave today to play a non-conference game at Santa Clara, 3 p.m., HST, tomorrow before heading to Nevada to resume WAC play.
