Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i high jumper Amber Kaufman is the Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, for March 30-April 5, after her performance at the Sacramento State Mondo Invitational.

Kaufman, a sophomore from San Jose, Calif., was named Field Athlete of the Meet over the weekend after winning the high jump with a mark of 6-0 (1.83 meters).

The mark was a meet record and is tied for second-best in the country this season. Her NCAA regional qualifying mark is also a WAC best.

It was the first track and field honor for Kaufman, who also plays for the UH volleyball team.

The WAC award marks the second straight week a UH athlete was honored. Last week, Annett Wichmann earned Field Athlete of the Week honors after setting a school record in the javelin at the Stanford Invitational.

The Rainbow Wahine host their third Sunset Meet on Saturday at T.C. Ching Field.
