A witness in the murder trial of Glenn Keohokapu Jr. testified yesterday that she saw the defendant stab 19-year-old victim Steven Wilcox.

"All I seen was the knife go into Steve," said Lorraine Aea.

"Who had the knife?" asked Deputy Prosecutor Kristine Yoo.

"Glenn," Aea said.

Wilcox was fatally stabbed in the heart during an altercation June 8 outside a Kane'ohe bar.

Keohokapu, 36, who has a lengthy criminal record, has pleaded self-defense in the trial, which began Monday.

Aea testified that she was in Club Komomai at the Kaneohe Shopping Center the night of the murder and recognized Wilcox, who used to date her daughter.

The underage Wilcox was drinking in the bar with a friend, who became involved in an argument with Keohokapu, according to Aea.

She said she thought the two men were going to fight, but the dispute ended peacefully.

Later, when Aea was outside the bar smoking a cigarette, she saw a "commotion" between Keohokapu and a woman at a car in the parking lot, she said.

Wilcox was also outside the bar, holding a bottle of beer and watching the altercation, Aea said.

When Wilcox began walking toward the couple, Aea said, she placed herself between him and Keohokapu because it was clear the two men wanted to fight, she said.

According to Aea, she and Keohokapu's brother tried to stop the two men from fighting by trying to push the two men apart.

That's when she saw Keohokapu stab the younger man, she said.

Wilcox, stabbed "on the left side of his stomach," stepped back against a truck, saying, "He stabbed me, the f----- stabbed me," before he collapsed to the ground, Aea said.

She identified a bloody folding knife found at the scene as the knife she saw in Keohokapu's hand.

Keohokapu's brother, Stille, also testified yesterday, saying he did not see the fatal blow struck.

Stille Keohokapu said his brother became angry in the bar when Wilcox's friend spoke to Glenn Keohokapu's wife, Kauilani.

"Look but don't touch," Glenn Keohokapu said to the man, his brother testified.

Kauilani Keohokapu is scheduled to testify today in the trial.

Court records show the Keohokapus had a troubled, violent relationship. She obtained a restraining order against him in March 2008, alleging that she feared for her life because of his violent behavior while he was on drugs.

He failed to appear at a court hearing in that case the morning after he allegedly murdered Wilcox.
