WINDWARD O'AHU
Public forums give voters chance to meet candidates

Voters in City Council District 3 (Kane'ohe, Kailua, Waimanalo) will have three more opportunities to meet and question candidates to succeed the late Councilwoman Barbara Marshall.

The Kailua Chamber of Commerce will host a forum from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kailua Intermediate School, 145 S. Kainalu Drive. Residents can submit questions ahead of time at www.kailuachamber.com; click on "Questions for Candidates."

The Olomana Community Association is sponsoring Candidates Night at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Maunawili Elementary School cafetorium.

The Windward Ahupua'a Alliance has invited candidates to a coffee from 6 to 9:30 p.m. April 15 at Hale Akoakoa 104 and 105 on the Windward Community College campus. Candidates will meet in small groups for a set period in this "political speed dating" structure.

Aug. 23 is the deadline for voters to turn in their mail-in ballots.
