Life is good for the Stanford women's water polo team.

The top-ranked Cardinal have compiled a 21-1 record and sit atop the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation standings at 5-0. But records are thrown out the door when it comes to The Big Game.

Saturday, Stanford will make the short road trip — some 40 miles north — to the Berkeley campus of their archrival California.

The Golden Bears (28-5, 3-3 MPSF) are currently ranked fifth behind USC, UCLA and Hawai'i.

One-half of the platoon Stanford has used at goalie is sophomore Kim Hall, a 2007 Punahou graduate from Kane'ohe.

The system has worked so far for the Cardinal. Amber Oland, who was named MPSF Newcomer of the Year last season, has played in 14 games, making 100 saves while allowing 90 goals. She is averaging 6.43 goals against and 7.14 saves per game.

Hall has played in 13 games with 58 saves while allowing 49 goals. Hall averages 3.77 goals against and 4.46 saves per game.

Stanford finished 27-5 last year, 11-1 in the MPSF and third nationally.

The Cardinal concludes its regular season a week from Saturday with a road game at USC. The Trojans are the lone team to beat Stanford this season, back on Feb. 7.
