Man charged with attempted murder in Chinatown stabbing

By Curtis Lum
Advertiser Staff Writer

A 22-year-old man was charged this afternoon with attempted-murder in connection with the stabbing of another man April 3 in Chinatown.

Hine Laloulu, who gave no local address, was charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder and his bail was set at $500,000. Because tomorrow is a state holiday, Laloulu is not scheduled to make his initial court appearance until Monday morning.

Laloulu is accused of stabbing a 32-year-old man during a fight near a bus stop on River Street last week. Police said the incident was part of an ongoing turf war between rival gangs in Chinatown.
