27 post offices will stay open late

The U.S. Postal Service will offer late collection hours at 27 post offices on April 15 to accommodate people waiting until the last minute to file their federal tax returns.

The locations will have collection boxes or lobby drop slots labeled with special orange signs telling tax procrastinators they are for taxes and will be picked up at midnight. All returns deposited in them by midnight will receive an April 15 postmark.

In addition, the Airport Post Office in Honolulu will remain open until 8 p.m. that night for people who need to buy stamps or special services.

In addition to the airport, the late collections on O'ahu are: Downtown, 'Ewa Beach, Hale'iwa, Hawai'i Kai, Kailua, Kane'ohe, Kapalama, La'ie, Makiki, Mililani, Wai'alae-Kahala, Wai'anae, Waikiki and Waipahu.

On Maui: Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina (Main), Makawao, Pukalani and Wailuku.

On the Big Island: Hawai'i Hilo (Airport), Kailua, Kona and Kamuela.

On Kaua'i: Lihu'e.

On Moloka'i, the Kaunakakai Post Office will have late collection as will the Lana'i City Post Office on Lana'i.
