Turtle Bay Resort is introducing the new industry-wide initiative "Get Golf Ready in 5 Days" program next month. It is designed to bring adults into the game in a fast, fun, affordable way.

The program is made up of five introductory lessons offered by Turtle Bay's PGA Professional staff in a small-group environment every Thursday from May 7 to June 10. The price is $99.

"The Get Golf Ready program provides an affordable and rewarding educational experience for those who are interested in learning more about the game of golf," said Turtle Bay Head Pro Larry Keil. "The program will provide a casual yet structured setting using fun, skill-enhancement formats to help participants become comfortable on the links and enable them to continue to develop their skills as golfers."

Targeting those who have limited or no experience with the game, the player development program's five lessons provide basic skills instruction as well as information regarding the background of the game's rules, etiquette and values. Significant on-course learning opportunities will be a part of each lesson.

Participants will gain insight into techniques for chipping, putting, full swing, half swing and bunker play as well as fundamental guidelines regarding use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course, among others.

Following completion of the five-session program, golfers can move into Get Golf Ready graduate outings, with free and low-cost programs offered by Play Golf America.

Get Golf Ready was announced in November as part of the World Golf Foundation's Golf 20/20 initiative. The program is benefiting from unprecedented support and collaboration from the entire golf industry, including the World Golf Foundation, PGA of America and other leading national and state golf associations, organizations, manufacturers, media and companies.

GREATEST COURSES

PRINCE RANKS 67TH

Princeville's Prince is the only Hawai'i course in the 2009-2010 Golf Digest biennial ranking of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. This is the 25th year of the ranking and it has a new No. 1 for only the second time.

Augusta National Golf Club, home of this week's Masters, has taken over top honors. Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey dropped to second, for only the second time since Pebble Beach Golf Links overtook it in 2001. Pebble Beach ranks sixth on the current list and remains No. 1 in the ranking of the 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses.

Golf Digest has conducted America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses rankings since 1966. It is widely considered the most respected ranking in the game. Princeville Prince, at No. 67, is one of the few public-access courses on the list.

To determine America's 100 Greatest, America's 100 Greatest Public and Best Courses in Each State, Golf Digest used more than 900 panelists to play and rate thousands of courses on seven criteria: Shot Values, Resistance to Scoring, Design Variety, Memorability, Aesthetics, Conditioning and Ambience.
