Kauai seeking applicants for 8 seasonal/on-call lifeguard positions

LIHUE — Persons interested in becoming a seasonal/on-call lifeguard with Kauai County's Ocean Safety Bureau can apply between April 13 and 24.

Applications can be downloaded from the county website, www.kauai.gov, and turned in at any county lifeguard tower or Kauai Fire Department headquarters in the Moikeha Building at the Lihue Civic Center.

Applications can also be picked up at these same locations.

Duties of a seasonal/on-call lifeguard include: patrol beach at an assigned tower; protect life; prevent accidents; enforce safety regulations; and assist people in distress.

The pay rate for a seasonal/on-call lifeguard is $12 per hour.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver's license and a high school diploma or a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, and be willing to work weekends and holidays.

Applicants must also meet health and physical condition standards and pass a physical ability performance test scheduled for Monday, May 11. No make-up test will be allowed.
