It's a good weekend to be Filipino. Celebrate Filipino culture and heritage with two very different events.

Have a good laugh Saturday at the fifth annual Fil-Am Comedy Jam featuring Filipino-American comics Rex Navarrete (pictured), Joey Guila and Ron Josol, and then get a real look at real life at the Doris Duke Theatre's Filipino Film Festival, that includes six box-office hits direct from the Philippines. The fest opens tonight. Make it dinner and a movie with Filipino food provided by Alonzo's Restaurant.

Comedy Jam: 7 p.m. Saturday, Dole Cannery Ballroom, $20 advance, $25 door, www.islandtix.com / Film fest: 5:30-8 p.m. today through April 18, $5-$7, info: www.honoluluacademy.org, 532-8700

BATTLE OF THE BEER IS ON

The Honolulu screening of "Beer Wars," a documentary about the little brewers versus the big beer boys in an epic battle of suds supremacy, is at 7 p.m. Thursday ($15, beer www.warsmovie.com) at the Dole Cannery theaters.

FEEL IT IN YOUR BELLY

All belly dancers are not created equal, and the Indigo Belly Dance Co., which performs at 8 p.m. Sunday at Pipeline Café ($10-$35, www.pipelinecafehawaii.com), is said to be superior to most. Info: www.shakti808.com.

OPERA GONE WILD

For lovers of naughty Latin poetry, the Honolulu Symphony does "Carmina Burana" (8 p.m. tomorrow, 4 p.m. Sunday, Blaisdell Concert Hall, $19-$70, www.ticketmaster.com), with soprano Sumi Jo (pictured) on vocals.

TAMING OF THE BEATS

Beat makers throw down to see whose beats beat them all. The Beatroot Grand Championships final battle happens Saturday at 9 p.m. at Loft Gallery and Lounge (115 N. Hotel St.,$7).

LISTEN AND 'SWOON'

The Silversun Pickups, fronted by Kailua boy Brian Aubert, is set to release its latest — and much anticipated in the navel-gazing world of indie rock — album, "Swoon." The album, which is a follow-up to 2006's "Carnavas," drops Tuesday.

GOOD MORNING, EASTER BUNNY!

After the eggs are colored and the baskets are filled, sit down to breakfast with none other than the Easter Bunny himself (herself?). Dave & Buster's hosts a breakfast buffet ($15, 589-2215), an egg hunt and a bunny meet-and-greet from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday morning.
