UH completes softball doubleheader sweep over Utah State

Amanda Tauali'i hit a two-run homer and Stephanie Ricketts pitched a complete-game to lead Hawai'i to a 3-2 victory over Utah State and a sweep of a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader and three-game series at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine are 20-20 overall and 8-4 in the WAC. Utah State is 13-9 and 6-4. UH won the first game, 4-3, in 10 innings.

Ricketts (15-7, 8-2 WAC) struck out eight and walked one, while spacing three hits.

After Utah State scored two runs in the first, UH's Stacey Yamada singled in Tagab-Cruz in the second inning to close it to 2-1.

In the sixth inning, Tanisha Milca reached on a fielding error by the first baseman. After Clare Warwick flew out to left field, Milca went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Traci Yoshikawa. Tauali'i then hit her homer to left field, giving the Rainbows a 3-2 lead.
