PHILADELPHIA — Division title: Check. No. 1 playoff seed: Check. Next goal for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers is securing the NBA's best record.

James had 27 points and 10 assists, Wally Szczerbiak scored a season-high 18 and the Cavaliers beat the struggling Philadelphia 76ers, 102-92, last night to clinch home-court advantage in the Eastern conference playoffs.

"It means a lot," James said. "To set a goal and accomplish it, we should be proud."

No team has played better at home this season than the Cavs. They're 38-1 at Quicken Loans Arena, with the only loss coming against the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 8. Cleveland (64-15) entered with a half-game lead over the Lakers for the best record in the league.

Andre Iguodala led Philadelphia with 26 points. The Sixers (40-39) have lost four straight since clinching a playoff berth. They remained one game behind Miami for fifth place in the East.

"We're disappointed because we thought we had a chance to win this game," Sixers coach Tony DiLeo said.

Andre Miller and Lou Williams each scored 17 for Philadelphia.

CELTICS 105, HEAT 98

Paul Pierce scored 21 of his 28 points in the second half, including two free throws for a 97-95 lead with 1:37 left, and host Boston made six free throws in the final 32 seconds to turn back Miami.

HAWKS 122, PACERS 118

Josh Smith scored 30 points, Joe Johnson had 24 to help host Atlanta beat Indiana to clinch the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

PISTONS 100, NETS 93

Will Bynum scored 20 points, Rasheed Wallace added 15 as host Detroit led from the start in defeating New Jersey to clinch a playoff spot for the eighth straight year, but still needs two wins in its final three games to finish with a .500 record.

WIZARDS 100, RAPTORS 98

Antawn Jamison had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Caron Butler added 21 points, including a pullup jumper from the free-throw line at the buzzer, to lift visiting Washington over Toronto, which tied the game at 98-all on Jose Calderon's layup with 16 seconds.

GRIZZLIES 106, SUNS 89

Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo scored 20 points apiece, and host Memphis took a 55-47 halftime lead and extended it to 84-68 entering the fourth quarter to beat Phoenix for the first time since Dec. 7, 2007 — a span of 10 games.

KNICKS 105, MAGIC 95

Al Harrington scored 27 points, Wilson Chandler had 22, and David Lee added 20 points and 16 rebounds as visiting New York dropped Orlando two games back of Boston for the Eastern Conference's second seed with three games left.

THUNDER 84, BOBCATS 81

Kevin Durant had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Nenad Krstic added 19 points, and the host Thunder knocked Charlotte out of playoff contention in the home finale of their first season in Oklahoma City.

MAVERICKS 100, HORNETS 92

Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki each scored 25 points and host Dallas saw its 16-point lead starting the fourth quarter cut to 93-89 with 53 second left before holding off New Orleans, leaving the two teams tied for the sixth seed in the West.

SPURS 105, JAZZ 99

Tony Parker scored 31 points, Tim Duncan added 14 and host San Antonio beat Utah, which has lost five of six and slipped closer to having to face the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs as the No. 8 seed.

TRAIL BLAZERS 106, LAKERS 98

Brandon Roy had 24 points and eight assists, and host Portland held off Los Angeles and Kobe Bryant, who scored 32 points, but missed a key 3-pointer, had a crucial turnover and was off on a jumper in the final minute.

CLIPPERS 109, KINGS 78

Brian Skinner scored 21 points, Eric Gordon added 20, and host Los Angeles snapped a six-game losing streak with a victory over Sacramento in a matchup between two lottery-bound teams hoping to land the first overall pick in the NBA draft.

ROCKETS 113, WARRIORS 109

Dikembe Mutombo had 10 points and 15 rebounds, Luis Scola added 28 points and visiting Houston maintained its slim hold on the third seed in the West after completing a four-game season sweep of Golden State.
