Castle Medical Center CEO's birthday kicks off campaign

Castle Medical Center and the American Cancer Society will kick off a Colorectal Cancer Public Awareness Campaign with a public 50th birthday party for Castle center's CEO Kevin Roberts from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 19 at the center's Weinberg Medical Plaza & Wellness Center.

Fifty is the age at which the American Cancer Society recommends a colon cancer screening test. Nearly 90 percent of colon cancer cases can be prevented or cured when detected early through screening, but less than half of the adults over 50 get their colon checked.

The free event includes refreshments, cancer screening information, tours, seminar on colon cancer, healthy cooking demonstration, blood pressure screening and smoking cessation information.
