KAILUA, KONA
Big Island mayor, staff have new space in Kona Center

Hawai'i County's expanded West Hawai'i staff will be housed in a new location starting today, when temporary administration offices open at the Kona Center on Hanama Place.

The new location will provide office space for Mayor Billy Kenoi, who has been visiting West Hawai'i at least once a week, and officials with the departments of Parks and Recreation and Housing. The new telephone number is 808-327-3602.

The Kona Center already houses a county driver's licensing bureau and the Department of Liquor Control, as well as private businesses.

The former mayor's office at Hanama Place will be occupied by Data Systems, but scheduling of the conference room there will continue to be the responsibility of the mayor's office. The space now occupied by Data Systems will be turned over to the county planning department.

All the county's office space at Hanama Place and the Kona Center will be vacated in about two years when the West Hawai'i Civic Center opens at the corner of Kealakehe Parkway and Ane Keohokalole Highway.
