Grassroot Institute plans rallies to protest taxes

The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii and other groups are planning to hold a "Hawaii Tax Day Tea Party 2009" tomorrow at seven locations on four islands.

The event is intended to be a protest against what organizers call Hawai'i's "tax and spend government."

The main location will be at the State Capitol from 4 to 7 p.m. Other rallies will be in Hilo, Kona, Lihu'e, Kahului and Lahaina.

The event is co-sponsored by the Hawaii Republican Assembly, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and Admor HVAC.
