Motorcyclist hit by truck in stable condition at Queen's

A 58-year-old Anahola, Kaua'i, man was airlifted to The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu Sunday night after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck in Puhi.

Frank Medeiros Jr. was in stable condition at Queen's. His passenger, a 34-year-old Princeville woman, was in good condition at Wilcox Hospital in Lihu'e.

Medeiros was traveling east on Kaumuali'i Highway about 7:05 p.m. when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck making a left turn onto Nani Street.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 68-year-old Puhi man, was not injured.

Traffic on the eastbound lane of Kaumuali'i Highway was re-routed to Puhi Road for about 30 minutes after the accident while police investigated.
