Charity events to shut down Lihue streets on Saturday

LIHUE — Police are advising motorists of street closures in Lihue on Saturday to accommodate the Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run and the Multiple Sclerosis Walk.

Both events begin at 7 a.m.

The Barboza run, a benefit for Special Olympics, will begin at First Hawaiian Bank, head down Rice St., turn left on Hoolako St. and end at Vidinha Stadium.

To accommodate the run, police will close off Rice and Hoolako streets from about 6:45 to 7:30 am.

The MS Walk will begin at Kukui Grove Center head down Kalepa St., turn left on Ulu Maika Rd., right on Nuhou Rd. and loop back to Kukui Grove Center.

To accommodate the MS Walk, police will close Kalepa St and Ulu Maika and Nuhou roads from about 6:45 to 8 a.m.

Motorists will need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations during Saturday's charity events.
