The state is about to put federal stimulus money to work to replace the South Punaluu Bridge on Oahu.

The feds will kick in $17 million of the $23 million project that will go out to bid later this month and take about two years to complete.

It is among the first highways projects on a list of work that qualifies for highway funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The state will receive about $128 million in stimulus funds for highway projects at the state and county level.
