Hawaii Red Cross offering free swim classes for keiki, adults

The American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter is offering free swim classes for kids and adults.

Online registration begins today at www.hawaiiredcross.org.

The sessions will be held at the Magic Island side of Ala Moana Beach Park, near Lifeguard Station 1E.

Keiki Learn to Swim for ages 3 to 14 will be held on Saturdays from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. There will be two four-Saturday sessions. The first runs June 6-27 and the second from June 11-Aug. 1.

Adult Learn to Swim for ages 14 and over will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:15 to 6 p.m. There will be two four-week sessions. The first runs June 2-25 and the second from July 7-30.

Enrollment is limited.

Parents must go into the water with each child under 5. A parent or a guardian must accompany children at all times.

Adult volunteers are needed to help with this program. Those interested in volunteering may contact the Red Cross at 739-8179 and leave a message or e-mail meinelm@hawaiiredcross.org.
