Motorcyclist struck by SUV is Oahu's 22nd traffic fatality

A 32-year-old man died yesterday after a sport utility vehicle collided with his motorcycle in Campbell Industrial Park, police said.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling north on Kalaeloa Boulevard when he was hit by a southbound Chevy Suburban turning left onto Kauhi Street about 1:30 p.m.

The motorcyclist was originally listed in serious condition with a right leg fracture, but suffered cardiac arrest en route to a hospital, police said. He was pronounced dead at 2:58 p.m.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. Speeding or alcohol do not appear to be factors, police said.

It was the 22nd traffic fatality on O'ahu this year, compared to 12 at this time last year, police said.
