'AIEA-WAIPAHU
Volunteers needed Saturday for 13 1/2-mile bike path cleanup

Volunteers are being sought to help clean 13 1/2 miles of the Pearl Harbor Bike Path, from McGrew Point in 'Aiea to Kapakahi Stream in Waipahu, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Those willing to help are asked to check in at Blaisdell Park in Waimalu or at a tent on the makai end of Waipahu Depot Road across from the police training academy.

About 20 organizations and 275 volunteers are expected to turn out. But more people are needed, especially at the Waipahu side, said Iwalani Sato of the city's Storm Water Quality Branch.

For information, to volunteer or to report illegal discharges, go to www.cleanwaterhonolulu.com or call the city's Environmental Concern Line at 768-3300.
