U.S. Open qualifiers in Hawaii start in May

 •  Mid-Pac loaded with young guns

Entry deadline for the U.S. Open Hawai'i qualifier is April 29, and deadline for the U.S. Women's Open qualifier is a week later, May 6.

Hawai'i has four U.S. Open qualifiers — at Turtle Bay (May 9), Ka'anapali (May 16), Wailua (May 23) and Waikoloa Kings' (May 25). There is no longer a Hawai'i sectional. Tiger Woods will defend his Open championship this year at Bethpage State Park's Black Course in New York, where he won in 2002.

The U.S. Women's Open local qualifier is May 23 at Wailua, with a Women's Amateur Public Links sectional qualifier the next day at the same place. The U.S. Women's Open Hawai'i sectional is June 15 at Wailua. The Open championship is at Saucon Valley Country Club in Pennsylvania.

The Women's Publinx will be June 22 to 27 at Red Tail Golf Club in Devens, Mass. Deadline is May 13.

OCC WOMEN'S INVITATIONAL IS BACK

After a 10-year sabbatical, the Oahu Country Club Women's Invitational is back with a Stableford Format. The tournament will be June 22 and 23. There will be an overall low gross and low net winner and five winners in each flight.

Entry fee is $175. The tournament is open to all female amateurs 15 and older with a GHIN handicap index of 24.5 or less. The field is limited to 96.
