CBKB: Paulus would need waiver for football eligibility

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA says former Duke basketball player Greg Paulus would need a transfer waiver for football eligibility at another Division I college.

The former high school quarterback has used up his basketball eligibility but still has one season for another sport and has met with Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez. He hasn't said what other schools might be interested or when he will decide.

An NCAA statement says this is a "unique situation and opportunity for Mr. Paulus," but another school would have to follow a waiver process to address "circumstances such as this that are not outlined in our rules."

Normally, transfers have to sit out one season, but Paulus could play immediately in a lower division. He's also considering the NFL and has worked out for the Packers.
