UH's Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu hits 3 homers in doubleheader sweep

Freshman Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu hit three home runs today in a doubleheader sweep of San Jose State in a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader at San Jose, Calif.

Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu, a Mililani High alum, hit a pair of two-run homers and Dara Pagaduan hit a solo shot in the Rainbows' 6-5 victory in the first game.

Audrey Andrade hit a grand slam and Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu and Amanda Tauali'i also blasted homers to lift Hawai'i to an 11-4 win in the second game.

Hawai'i (22-21, 10-5 WAC) swept the series 2 games to 1. San Jose State is 11-29 and 5-10.

In the first game, Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu hit her first two-run blast in the first inning to give UH a 2-0 lead. After San Jose scored a run in the bottom of the inning, Pagaduan hit her homer to put UH up 3-1.

The Rainbows scored three runs in the top of the third on Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu's second two-run homer and an RBI single by Katie Grimes to give UH a 6-1 lead.

The Spartans scored two runs each in the fourth and sixth innings to clsoe it to 6-5.

Stephanie Ricketts (16-8, 9-3 WAC) pitched her 20th complete game of the season, allowing six hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

With the Rainbows trailing 1-0, Andrade blasted a grand slam over the right-center field fence in the top of the third.

Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu and Tauali'i hit consecutive homers to start a five-run fifth inning as the Rainbows took a 9-1 lead.

The Spartans added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to close to 9-4, but Kanani Pu'u-Warren hit a two-run double in the top of the sixth to give UH a 11-4 lead.

Melissa Gonzalez pitched three innings to earn the victory, allowing four hits, one run, striking out one and walking none.

Andrade went 3 for 4, including four RBI.
