Laupahoehoe's Ryan is first Hawaii finisher in Boston Marathon

Alan Ryan of Laupahoehoe was the first Hawaii finisher in today's Boston Marathon, according to results at the race's Web site.

Ryan, 38, finished in 2 hours, 51 minutes, 41 seconds. He was 522nd overall in a field of 26,386.

Among Hawaii finishers, Ryan was followed by Ryan Gillia, 27, of Honolulu in 2:56:19 and Lyman Perry, 42, of Volcano, was third in 2:58:01.Kelly B. Calway, 25, of Mililani, was the first female finisher from Hawaii.

Calway finished in 2:59:05, followed by Belinda Wray, 31, of 'Aiea in 3:12:10.

Ethiopia's Deriba Merga won in 2:08:42 — almost a full minute ahead of Kenya's Daniel Rono and American Ryan Hall.

Kenya's Salina Kosgei Kosgei won the women's title in a sprint with defending champion Dire Tune in 2:32:16.

Fifty-two Hawai'i residents signed up for today's 113th running of the race.
