Consolidated Theatres to reward moviegoers who go green

Advertiser Staff

In celebration of Earth Day on Wednesday — and the debut of Disneynature's "EARTH" — Consolidated Theatres will be rewarding guests who go green.

Starting Wednesday and through Sunday, moviegoers who opt to forgo a carryout tray with their purchase of popcorn can enter to win a free night at the movies.

"Consolidated Theatres is committed to rewarding our eco-friendly guests through our new green promotion, just in time for Earth Day," said Rachel Gibson, Consolidated Theatres' promotions and events manager.

Two winners will be announced per day, per location. First prize includes two movie passes and a $10 concessions gift certificate. Second place will receive two free movie passes. The promotion will take place at all nine Consolidated Theatres locations on O'ahu and Maui.

Disneynature has also announced it will plant a tree in honor of every moviegoer who sees the film in its opening week. The trees will be planted in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, which is considered the most endangered rain forest in the world.

Today, only 7 percent of the Atlantic Forest remains.
