Central, South Maui residents asked to conserve water through tomorrow

WAILUKU — Due to a power outage in Wailuku this morning, Maui County's Department of Water Supply is requesting customers in Central and South Maui to conserve water today and tomorrow.

The affected areas include Paia, Kuau, Spreckelsville, Puunene, Kahului, Wailuku, Waihee, Waikapu, Maalaea, Kihei, Wailea and Makena.

The power outage affected six water wells in Waihee and Waiehu, which provide one-third of the water supply to Central and South Maui.

In order to extend the supply currently available in the storage tanks water customers are asked to turn off irrigation systems and use water only as needed for health and safety purposes. Once MECO restores power, water tank levels will begin to return to safe storage levels.
