Resort fundraiser benefits Maui charities

On May 9, the Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui will be the site of "An Evening in Paradise," an outdoor event including food and drink, a silent auction and a concert by Grammy-nominated Henry Kapono.

The event is meant to aid the Hawaii Hotel & Lodging Association's 31st annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, which offers assistance to non-profit helping organizations throughout the state — more than a million dollrs has been raised for more than 190 organizations. Proceeds from "An Evening in Paradise" will remain on the Valley Isle.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. Kapono concert alone are $40. A Premier Event Package from 6 to 8 p.m. includes pre-concert entertainment, a pupu buffet on the resort's Villas Lawn, hosted bar and the concert. Tables of 10 are $650.
