Macy's to host renowned 'fusion' chef Govind Armstrong

Restaurateur, chef and author Govind Armstrong, owners of the hot Table 8 family of restaurants, will give a free cooking demonstratioin at Macy's Ala Moana at 2 p.m. May 2.

Armstrong's flagship restaurant is in Los Angeles but he has outlets in Miami and New York as well, and plans to open more.

Armstrong uses only local organic produce and humanely raised meats in his Latin-Asian fusion cuisine. He trained with such greats as Wolfgang Puck, Mark Peel and Nancy Silverton and Joachim Splichal before going out on his own. He is the author of "Small Bites, Big Nights: Seductive Little Plate for Intimate Occasions and Lavish Parties."

Armstrong is one of 15 members of the Macy's Culinary Council, which advises the department store chain on culinary matters and help promote their culinary and housewares departments with events such as this demonstration. Seating for the event begins at 1:30 p.m.
