MLB: Braves' McCann back in lineup with new eye contact

Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Catcher Brian McCann was listed in Atlanta's starting lineup Tuesday against Washington after visiting an eye doctor and getting a new contact lens to correct blurred vision in his left eye.

McCann, in a 1-for-20 slump, was slated to bat fourth for the Braves. He sat out Atlanta's games on Sunday and Monday.

"Everything went well" at the eye doctor, McCann said. "It turns out I'm more nearsighted in my left eye."

To address the problem, he was fitted with a contact lens. But McCann said offseason eye surgery is a possibility.

"He says he's good to go," Braves manager Bobby Cox said before Tuesday's game. "We'll see."

Cox also said he is not sure how long outfielder Garret Anderson will be sidelined with a left quadriceps injury picked up while running the bases Sunday. A trip to the disabled list for Anderson "has got to be in the back of your mind."
