GENEVA — America's Cup defender Alinghi says it is preparing for a best-of-three series in multihull boats with challenger BMW Oracle Racing to decide the 33rd edition of sailing's classic event.

The Swiss champion says it could take place in May 2010, and wants its American rival to invite other teams to take part. The two sides met Thursday for the first time since their long-running court battle ended this month.

The American team won the case, giving it the right to negotiate terms for the next America's Cup.
