Volunteers to scrub graffiti in Kapolei

Advertiser Staff

About 100 volunteers will spend two hours cleaning graffiti from public property in Kapolei on Saturday.

The event is coordinated by the Rotary Club of Kapolei.

They'll gather at 7:30 a.m. at the Villages of Kapolei Association Rec Center, 91-1111 Kamaaha Loop

Volunteers have been organized into cleanup teams that will be spread out more than a mile to remove graffiti from such public sites as bus stops, utility poles as well as a skate park.

Volunteers will hold a 20-minute rally before their teams are dispatched from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. to remove markings from property in Kapolei, where police report an 80 percent increase in complaints about graffiti vandals over the past year.
