Honolulu Fire Department rescue workers carried an injured hiker from the Kaunala Trail in Pupukea this morning.

HFD was alerted after one of two female hikers on the trail suffered an unspecified injury and needed assistance off the popular trail, just above the Pupukea Boy Scout camp.

Thick forest canopy precluded the use of a helicopter to rescue the woman, so the crew hiked in about one mile to carry her out.
