Hawaii-based soldier dies in Iraq

The Department of Defense today announced the death of a Schofield Barracks soldier in Iraq.

Command Sgt. Maj. Benjamin Moore Jr., 43, of Waycross, Ga., died yesterday at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a noncombat-related incident.

He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3d Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawai'i.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
