Al Afalava, a Kahuku High alum and Oregon State safety, was selected in the sixth round by the Chicago Bears in today's NFL draft.

Afalava, 5 feet 11 and 214 pounds, impressed NFL scouts earlier in March by running the 40-yard dash in 4.47 and other measurables. He bench pressed 225 pounds 29 times and had a 40-inch vertical.

Afalava was a three-year starter for the Beavers and a stadnout on special teams.

The Bears also drafted Vanderbilt cornerback D.J. Moore to help the secondary.
