Hawaii Weather: Sunny this morning, cloudy later

Light and variable winds today will allow for plenty of sunshine this morning, but some clouds during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Hawaii.

The overall atmosphere remains dry, so shower activity will be limited, forecasters said.

An approaching front is expected to reach Kauai and Oahu on Tuesday, before dissipating near Maui or the Big Island on Wednesday. Weak trades are then expected for the second half of the week.

Here's a closer look at what to expect as the new work week begins:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 78. North wind around 8 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. South wind at 8 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tuesday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
